Many people can’t keep their hair healthy because they use too much chemicals. Here are a few homemade hair recipes that are cheap and chemical free!
- Recipes for Oily hair
Cider vinegar is very effective on oily hair. Add a tablespoon of it to a liter of water and use as a final rinse. Another final rinse for greasy hair can be made by boiling two handfuls of mint in two cups of water for 20 minutes.
- Recipes for Dry Hair
A deep conditioner is a fantastic treatment for dry hair. You can make your own with a beaten egg and two tablespoons of soybean or olive oil. Apply the mixture to your hair after washing and wrap your head in cling film, then a warm towel to help with penetration. Leave the mixture on your hair for 20-30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Do not use hot water as it may cook the egg and will make the conditioner extremely difficult to remove. An alternative is to mash up one avocado and some plain natural yogurt with a tablespoon of soybean or olive oil and to follow the instructions above regarding application.
- Blonde hair
If you’d like to enhance your blonde locks, try squeezing three lemons into a liter of water, straining and running slowly through your hair. Leave for 30 minutes then rinse for fresh, brightened hair. Try the same with four chamomile teabags as an alternative to lemon juice.
- Brunette hair
Boil two handfuls of fresh rosemary in a liter of water for ten minutes, strain and apply the mixture as a final rinse. If you’d like to try a berry tone, try taking one or two chopped beetroots and using in the same way as the rosemary. With the beetroot formula, try a strand test first to check the color isn’t too strong.
