How to Get Evan Rachel Wood’s Beautiful Hair

Evan Rachel Wood showcased a new edgy-chic hairstyle at the LA premiere of Ides of March.

According to a celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis, the look is “the perfect balance of masculine and feminine.” He added that the look is strong yet sexy.

In his exact words: “it’s a new take on a classic: combed-out finger wave with a David Bowie twist.”

Here is how to create edgy waves at home (it’s not that hard and requires minimal effort):

- Begin by prepping the damp hair with a volume spray. Fancis used  Phytovolume Actif Spray.

- Blow dry with your hands to create volume at the roots.

- For the back, use your fingers to direct the hair down, and on the sides – you must keep a piecey texture.

- When your hair is about half dry, lightly spritz with a spray. Marcus used Fekkai Tousled Wave Spray. This is necessary to thicken the texture, the look and feel of the hair.

- Use the end of a tail comb to create a deep side part. Start at the arch of your eyebrow.

- Now comes the critical part – creating glam waves. The most important part is the direction you curl the pieces of hair. Begin at the part and use a 3/4-inch curling iron to wrap small sections of hair around the barrel. Move toward the other eyebrow. The next row of sections should alternate the direction of the curl. The end result should be an imperfect version of a finger wave. Continue with alternating the curl until you finish the top side section.

-  At the crown of the head, wrap the hair as you did in the beginning, alternating about three rows down.

- Use a paste to keep texture tight on the sides. Marcus used Jonathan Dirt Texturizing Paste.

- For the top, use Pantene Pro-V Restore Beautiful Lengths Smoothing Balm. Use your fingers to break up the curls.

- In the end, spray with L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray for hold.
