How often you should wash your hair depends on its condition as well as on your hair type.
Over-washing can cause dry, brittle, and frizzy hair.
- Very dry, African-American and chemically treated hair should be washed one to two times a week. Also, include heavy conditioning packs each week. After washing your hair using gentler than regular shampoo, follow with a thick conditioner.
- Long, thick and curly hair should be washed two to three times a week. In general, skip a day in between shampoos. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.
- Wash every day if you have fine or thin hair as well as short styles. Fine and short hair become flat and greasy quickly. Use a gentle shampoo and follow with a light conditioner with every shower.
