What Causes Frizzy Hair?

The best way to reduce frizz in your hair is to discover what causes frizz.

- Some women are born with natural frizzy hair.

- Coarse hair and lack of moisture and protein in the hair can cause frizziness.

- Hair frizz can be caused by high humidity in the weather.

- Applying too much styling products leads to hair dryness which causes frizzy hair.

- Hair that is damaged from coloring, perming and bleaching often develops frizz.

- Some products that have high alcohol content (hairsprays, gels, mousses) will worsen the problem.

- Overuse of heat appliances (blow-dryers and curling irons) is one of the main causes for frizzy hair.

- Effects of sun’s rays and strong wind can also cause unmanageable frizziness.

Other causes include: use of harsh chemicals, hot oil treatments, certain oil-based conditioners, medication, stress, illness and poor diet.

Hair frizz can also appear if you touch your hair too often as well as combing and scrunching curly hair.
