How to Darken Hair Naturally

Women with dark hair sometimes need to boost the color of their locks. They can use natural solutions to do that.

Sage is one of the most effective colorants for dark brown or black hair. Here is how to prepare a sage rinse.

Steep a handful of the dried herb in a quart of boiling water for half an hour. Let the mixture cool down and strain it. After you shampoo your hair, pour the mixture through it 15 or more times. Wait 10 minutes and then wash the liquid out with clear water.

You will have to apply a sage rinse weekly in order to produce the shade you want. In order to maintain that color you will need to use the rinse once a month.

Tag alder bark is another way to naturally darken your hair. It usually produces a lighter tone than sage, so it should be used to darken blond hair or to cover gray hair in women with light to medium brown locks.

To prepare a tag alder rinse, simmer an ounce of bark chips in a quart of water for about 30 minutes, and then cool it. Use it the same way as you would the sage rinse.

By following the tips in this article, you’ll be able to achieve just about any hair shade you’d want, without using expensive, unsafe chemical colors.
