How to Get Rid of Greasy Hair
Greasy hair is really a frustrating problem for many people. That’s why we often receive questions like these: how can I get rid of greasy hair or what shampoo works best for greasy hair.
So, how do you deal with oily hair?
Some people find their hair becomes greasy within a day, or even within hours of washing it.
The oils are produced by the sebaceous glands attached to hair follicles. If these glands are over-stimulated, the consequence is oily scalp.
For this reason, the shampoo should be more directed towards the scalp and not so much washing the hair.
Use an anti-dandruff shampoo: lather it up and leave it on for 5 to ten minutes, then rinse.
Drugstore anti-dandruff shampoos are usually harsh; try to get salon-quality products.
There is a myth that a person with oily hair should wash it less because when you shampoo you massage, and massaging stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce more oil.
That’s not true. You should wash your hair as often as necessary. If you have to wash your hair every single day, that’s what you have to do.
You should also avoid running fingers through the hair during the day or wearing a hat.
For a temporary measure, you can use a powder shampoo to absorb some of the oils, and then brush out.
Hairdressers often recommend a cool rinse to close pores or hair follicles. There is no proof that this helps in any way.
In addition, there is no proof that some foods might contribute to oiliness.
