How to Dye Your Own Hair

Coloring your hair at home is a cheap alternative to professional hair color. Follow these tips to learn how to dye your own hair.

If this is your first time to color your hair at home than we recommend you should choose a temporary or semi-permanent hair dye rather than permanent.

- Test a few strands of hair to make sure it’s the shade you want.

- Don’t wash and dye your hair the same day. Wait one to two days after washing your hair before applying color.

- Fasten the towel around your neck.

- Apply Vaseline to your skin all around your hairline.

- Mix the hair color according to the instructions on the box.

- Divide your dry hair into 4 sections using a comb.

- Take a small subsection from one of the four sections and apply color from the bottle.

- Begin with the roots and move down and outward.

- Pile your hair on the top of your head as you are working. You can use multiple hair clips to pin your hair up.

- Wait between 25 and 45 minutes for the hair dye to work.

- Rinse your hair with cool water.

- Apply the conditioner.

- Don’t wash your hair for at least 48 hours.
