How to Combat Hair Flyaways
Hair flyaways and frizziness are common problems at this time of year. People who use heat styling are especially affected.
Every time you use hair-dryers, tongs and straighteners you must also use products to protect your hair.
Here are some tips on how to reduce flyaway hair:
- Use a moisture-rich shampoo
- Use a moisturising conditioner after every shampoo
- Use a leave-in spray conditioner before blow-drying your hair
- Apply an anti-frizz serum to wet hair
- Use a deep conditioning treatment with protein once a week.
- When drying your hair, begin with the heat set to high, but as your hair becomes drier switch to the low heat setting.
- Hold the dryer about 8 inches away from the hair.
- If you still have frizzy hair, use the blow dryer only to slightly dry the hair, and let it finish drying naturally.
- Do not use a hairbrush to straighten tangles. A wide-tooth comb is good for preventing static and frizz.
