Talk on Thermal Hair Reconditioning-Straightening Process

Many women want to straight their hair. After trying ironing, blow-drying and chemicals, some ladies want to try thermal hair reconditioning process.

This high-priced straightening technique from Japan promises to tame curly tresses for good.

Industry insiders consider thermal reconditioning a revolutionary method. But it costs hundreds of dollars and takes hours to do.

TR treatment is a chemical process too. It chemically alters the structure of hair. It also does away with frizzies and fly-aways.

After the chemical is applied to your hair, a stylist irons the hair, piece by piece, to lock in the straightness for good. The hair is then rinsed and blown dry.

When the TR treatment is done after about four hours, your hair will stay straight, whatever the weather, and you will need to pay $800.

Depending upon the salon, the price tag for can be $1,500.

For especially curly, wavy or long hair, thermal hair straightening can take almost an entire day.

And when your curls start to grow back, you’ll need to get another treatment. It usually lasts anywhere from 6 to 8 months.

Thermal reconditioning could damage your hair too. Some women reported that their hair fell out in clumps. Others say the TR caused so much breakage.

For this reason, some salons do not offer thermal hair reconditioning to their clients, because it’s too risky.

Experts say that you should not consider the straightening process if your hair has been bleached or straightened with any other chemical procedure. In addition, African-American hair is too delicate for TR.

Japanese thermal reconditioning is often marketed as a process that will repair your hair. However, there are no clinical studies to confirm this claim.

Also, you cannot curl your hair once it has been straightened by TR. So, this process may not be for you if you’re not ready to live with straight hair for a long period of time.

One last thing. Only 10% to 20% of women are appropriate clients for this thermal process. That’s why an advance consultation is crucial.

It is also essential to have this procedure done by an experienced stylist. It is not a process that can be done at home.

Japanese thermal hair straightening promises perfectly straight, shiny hair permanently. But think twice about whether this particular procedure is right for you.
