Synthetic and Human Hair Wig Care

Human hair wigs are more expensive, more durable, and looks more like real hair then synthetic wigs.

On the other hand, synthetic hair wigs are cheaper than human hair counterparts, they are easier to look after, can hold a hair style longer, and dry faster after washing. Also you don’t need to restyle them after each washing. This is not the case with human hair wigs.

However, you must be careful with styling products you use on synthetic hair wigs because heat can melt them. They are also lighter and cooler to wear in the summer months.

Human Hair Wig Care:

- Do not wash it everyday.
- During warm weather, wash your wigs every six to eight wearings.
- During cooler weather, wash them every 12 to 15 wearings.
- Use cold-warm water for washing.
- Use mild shampoo designed for permed, colored, or processed hair and condition.
- Do not scrub hair.
- Gently towel dry.
- Put you wig on a dry towel or a wire head to air dry.
- You can use a blow dryer.
- You can use hot tools.
- Use special wire wig brush to gently untangle it.
- You can set wigs with spray or light hairspray.

Synthetic Wig Care:

- Do not use hair styling products (mousses, sprays and gels) and shampoos designed for human hair. They are too strong for the synthetic fibers.
- Use shampoos, conditioners and hairsprays specially formulated for synthetic wigs.
- You cannot use curling irons, hot rollers or blow dryers.
- Wash it after 10 to 12 wearings. In general, wash your wig when it looks like it needs to be washed.
- Brush it lightly with a wire brush before washing.
- Add shampoo to the container of cold water, and soak the wig in it for two minutes. Do not scrub the wig, just swish it from side to side and dunk it up and down.
- Rinse it in cold running water.
- After washing, spread it on a towel or put it on a wig stand to dry. Let it air dry.
- Brush your wig when it is completely dry.
