Hair Growth Stimulation with Low Level Laser Light

Does hair growth stimulation with lasers really work?

For the first time, we can say with confidence – YES, it works!

This is confirmed by a study conducted by Laboratoire Bio-EC, Paris, France. It showed that Low Level Laser Light can stimulate hair growth.

The study compared a dose of laser energy and a reference dose on the ex-vivo growth of hair.

Isolated hair follicles were placed in the Philpott hair culture medium and were exposed to the two laser doses. They were photographed at regular intervals over 10 days to measure for hair length increases.

The conclusion of the study was that the wave length dose studied induced statistically significant ex-vivo increase in hair growth vs. control dose at the conclusion of the study.

This importance of these results is that for the first time a study has documented ex-vivo hair growth in isolated hairs using laser stimulation. The results conclusively indicated that laser energy stimulated proliferation in the hair matrix.

The results of the study were presented by Dr. Michael Hamblin at the 17th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons.
