How to Make Curls Hold All Day
Many women have this problem – they do not know how to make curls hold. It seems that their hair never hold a curl.
These women are constantly waging wars on their straight hair when trying to get it to wave or curl. They use hot rollers or a curling iron in the morning, but their hairstyle is flat by lunchtime.
Here are a few simple tips that will help you next time you try to curl your straight hair.
- Don’t try to curl squeaky-clean hair. It should be at least day-old dirty. Avoid a heavy shampoo and conditioner; they will weigh your hair down. Use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner.
- Apply a curl enhancing gel. TIGI’s Curls Rock gel gives curls good holding power.
- You should always apply a setting lotion before you use a curling iron.
- Use a curling iron that is smaller barreled than what you want your curls to be. For example, use a one inch barreled iron for two inch curls.
- For some women, especially those with fine, limp hair, hot rollers are a better option than a curling iron.
- Finish off your hairstyle with a firm hair spray. Try CHI’s Enviro Flex Firm Hold Hair Spray by Farouk.
- If you notice that your curls are falling flat, spritz on a curl-reviver during the day.
- Remember, the less you comb or mess with your hair, the longer the curls will hold.
