There are many mild home hair colors but they do not always produce the great results of chemical based solutions.

One of the things you should now when your color your hair at home is that natural dyes work differently for each person. In addition, results will vary every time you use them.

Here are some tips on how to dye your hair at home.

- Henna hair dye

This is a very popular way to dye your hair and will produce a red color. Follow these instructions: crush three tablespoons of henna leaves and steep in one cup of warm water during the night. Strain and add one tablespoon of alcohol.

- Indigo and henna dye
This recipe is excellent for light hair that is being dyed a shade of beige. Follow these instructions: Crush a Â½ cup of indigo with Â¼ cup of henna. Mix with 1 cup of warm water and let sit during the night. Strain, and apply to clean hair for 20 minutes and rinse.
