Chlorine can be removed with apple cider vinegar. Rinse medium length hair with approximately eight oz of apple cider vinegar.

Here is another chlorine removal formula: Add a small amount of ketchup to your shampoo and wash your hair. In case you have tougher green stains, add the tomato paste directly to your hair. Cover hair with a shower cap for 8-10 minutes.

One recipe for removing chlorine: Mix 5 tablespoons of baking soda with 2/3 cup of water. Pour into conditioner bottle and shake. Shampoo your hair, rinse and apply mix for ten minutes and then rinse.

These are tips on how to remove chlorine from hair. But you can also take some preventive measures to eliminate chlorine’s harmful effects:

Before you go swimming in chlorinated water, comb cocoa butter cream through your hair from root to tip. This will prevent hair from soaking up chlorine. After swimming, rinse hair and repeat process, wait half an hour then shampoo.

Or, before getting in the pool, condition your hair and leave the product in while you swim.
